WKN USA, LLC is a joint venture between Germany’s BayWa AG and WKN AG. Acknowledged as a leading turn-key developer of renewable energy projects, WKN USA is well-known for its track record of developing and constructing high quality wind farms. Based in San Diego, it became the first German developer to successfully develop and construct a commercial size wind project in the United States and the first developer in North America that built a project with a hub height in excess of 100m. Formerly operating under Windkraft Nord USA, Inc., the company is now greatly expanding its capabilities since BayWa AG, through its wholly owned subsidiary BayWa r.e GmbH, acquired a majority stake. WKN USA's business model is to develop, construct, own and operate renewable energy projects. It seeks to complete the life-cycle by either divesting of or partnering on the operating assets.
